Welcome and Thank You !
You have successfully made it to our introductory page, intended for the recipients of postcards welcoming registered voters to their precinct and to the Lincoln County Democratic Party (LCDP).
To find out more about the LCDP please take time to read the various menu items on the Lincoln County Democratic website.
Precincts – You are in one of twenty-three geographic precincts in Lincoln County. They range in size from about 250 to 1,000 registered Democrats respectively. It is the basic organizing division used to develop policy positions and determine leadership of the Democrat party at the County level and subsequently the State and National levels as well as supporting other Democrat party activities such as working in political campaigns in a partisan fashion and working at polling sites in non-partisan fashion as the laws require. This explains why we have twenty-three polling places on election day. We hope you will engage with and volunteer with your Precinct officials. You can find out which is your Precinct by going to www.ncsbe.gov/voterlookup. Your Precinct will be listed under “Your jurisdictions”.
Every Lincoln County Democrat is highly valued and invited to participate with their precinct Democrats in all of the party’s activities. Check the Event calendar for specific events, schedules, alerts, and call us (704-748-1032) for information as well. Do leave a message. We regularly send text messages and emails announcing events.
Good examples of participation opportunities include:
- Democratic Women of Lincoln County (DWLC) meetings – 4th Monday of the Month. Open to all and a great place to hear about interesting topics, meet candidates, meet elected officials, promote student scholarship efforts, meet like-minded people, and participate in our very necessary get-out-the-vote efforts.
- LCDP General meeting reoccurs on the 3rd Tuesday of every month. Please double check the calendar for agenda and confirmation of the meeting. We choose to cancel the meeting depending on other events occurring during that particular month.
- Executive Committee of the Lincoln County Democratic Party – meets four times a year. Check event calendar for next meeting. Open to all but voting is limited to the leadership selected by each precinct. The LCDP annual budget is adopted and reports on the various activities and subcommittees are heard.
- County Convention – Meets once a year. County Party officials are elected for two year terms and delegates to the District Convention are selected.
- Lincoln County Democratic African-American Caucus – This North Carolina State Democratic Party approved auxiliary is a member of the LCDP organization and is intended to provide a platform for developing leadership and awareness of issues.
- Lincoln County Democrat Men’s Club – Meets 4th Tuesday of the month. See Event calendar for next meeting time and place. This auxiliary has participated in various local events, performed invaluable maintenance on the LCDP headquarters (129 Water Street, Lincolnton), and assisted candidates in raising campaign funds.
Like Minded People – Your fellow Democrats are a joy to be around and to support. Socializing and networking is how we build relationships and a strong coalition.
